Inkodo - FAQ

You tried to open a page from the archives and your ink strokes and/or objects are not loaded.

Normally the app save the page automatically every minutes. Inkodo have also a safeguard which the page is copied under a backup folder every two minutes. This kind of problem shouldn't exists on Inkodo, but in the worst case scenario (app crash, low disk space), you should have at least one backup.

> Open the broken page and go under the Page Versions sub-menu:

Archives - Restore a page

- You will see in this Windows a list of backuped ink strokes or objects: just pick the right one and click on the restore button.

It is also possible the page was saved but not booked properly. Take a look under the archives and open Quick Note book (and if not enough: All pages book). If you have never had the chance to make a manual save, you may not see a thumbnail (the page snapshot will be blank).

If you are using OneDrive service from the app to backup or restore your Inkodo data, it is possible that the service is very slow or not accessible.

If you are using the offline service from the app to backup or restore your Inkodo data (from/to a zip file), it is possible that something unexpected prevent you for making the requested action.

You can bypass all of this by making a manual backup or restore:
- If you are trying to restore a backup: extract (or copy) and replace everything in the LocalState folder.
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\8338Giuapps.Inkodo_pzan5b7zgydq2\LocalState

- If you are trying to create a backup: copy everything in the LocalState folder elsewhere (you can also make a zip file if you intend to restore the app from the offline service).
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\8338Giuapps.Inkodo_pzan5b7zgydq2\LocalState

Inkodo is using an standard canvas and Windows Ink. If you have issue with our app, you may have the same issue with other apps.

Try to unplug / replug the pen and/or restart the device.

It's also important to keep updated Windows 10 to the latest version.

Go on Pen & Windows Ink settings and check:

> Ignore touch input when I'm using a pen.

Just go under the first pen flyout and pin again the pen:

Archives - Restore a pinned pen

Check if your device is not on power save mode: this reduces drastically the performance (even for high-end devices !).

If Inkodo is slower than usual, it maybe because the device's memory is full or the CPU overloaded. If you see Inkodo numbers in red under the Task Manager: restart the app.

Features like that are complicated to integrate into an “old” app like Inkodo. If someday at least one of them is made, you will know :)

You can group and export as many books and pages as you want in one PDF.

If you don't select any books or pages, Inkodo exports everything!

Inkodo at the first launch of the application defines the default writing behavior. You can also change this behavior in the settings.

The MOUSE mode just hide the Touch Selection Tool button from the menu because, if you are using Inkodo from a desktop computer with only your mouse, you don't need that.
Settings input

Under the objects flyout, click on the "Smiley" icon, then go to the "Clip Art" tab.

Stickers Clip art

Under the first pen flyout, you will find the button to pin the selected pen from the pens list.

The pens list contain also the default Inkodo pens. If you have accidently unpinned one of the default pens, you can pin the pen again!

Pin pen

For unpin a pinned pen, open the flyout of an pinned pen and click on "Unpin this pen".

Unpin pen

Under the first pen flyout, you will find at the bottom of the saved pens list, a pen called "Custom" (or spelled differently from your language).

Pin pen

From this screen, you have plenty of options to create a custom pen by the shape, size, color...

For saving the pen into the pens list, just click on the save button. You can also pin the custom pen.

Another thing, you can also make a copy of an saved pen by just using the save button.

In the page editor, under the Page settings panel, you have two buttons:

The first one is for lock the ability to zoom the paper, the second one if for lock the ability to use touch / gestures on the canvas.

In the Backup page, you have the necessary tools to backup / restore your Inkodo data.

Backup

If the "Backup" or "Restore" option with OneDrive service not working (or maybe the process is too slow), opt instead for an offline "Export" (you will get a zip with your Inkodo data) or "Import" (you import the zip created with the "Export" button).

Another option, it's to make the "Backup" or "Restore" by yourself.

Local folder: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Packages\8338Giuapps.Inkodo_pzan5b7zgydq2\LocalState
OneDrive folder: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\OneDrive\Applications\Inkodo

If you want to backup your Inkodo data to OneDrive, copy everything under the Local folder to the OneDrive folder.

Vice-versa, if you want to restore your Inkodo data, copy everything from the OneDrive folder and paste / replace into the local folder.

The local (and OneDrive) folder of Inkodo app data should look like this (not necessarily with all folders!):
Backup App folder

If you feel that the pages in your PDF documents are not sharp enough (especially when zooming in from the page editor), you can increase the zoom factor from Settings > Render > Import PDF - Zoom Factor.

By default, Inkodo uses a 200% zoom, this value ensure to have a page with a reasonable pixel density in order to benefit from a good comfort when annotating documents.

Import PDF - Zoom

If you feel that the pages in your PDF documents are not sharp enough, you can change the Export DPI from Settings > Render > Export PDF - DPI.

By default, the DPI is set to 150, which is a very good compromise between performance and quality (especially if the DPI of your pages is already set to 150 DPI or 1275x1650 pixels for a Letter type sheet).

Export PDF - DPI

From the backup page, you can bulk export your books where each PDF (or SVG, PNG) corresponds to a book (by selecting the option "Export everything"). You can also export unbooked pages.

Backup - Local export

You will find in the secondary menu of the page editor, a tool to restore the current page to a previous version.

If one of those features are visible, that mean you are using Inkodo PRO:
